Work Life: Kendall is the daughter of a contractor and growing up, spent her days in Maple Ridge helping out with projects around her family home. Today, she’s the proud mom of baby Fraser and sole owner of an award-winning, full-service interior design agency with the straightforward goal of designing for a living.

Q. What’s more likely to be in your cup? Chai or Coffee and why?
A. I am a coffee girl! I have a 5-month-old so anything to boost my morning is best.

Q. If you were on a jet plane right now, where would you be headed?
A. Japan, I’m dying to go! Japanese architects have designed some amazing buildings including Tokyo’s National Art Centre, designed by Kisho Kurokawa it is supposed to be jaw-dropping.

Q. Tell us one thing that not everyone may know about you.
A. I am an ordained minister.

Q. If you won the lottery at this very moment, what would your next move be?
A. Move is the key here… we are currently in a small apartment so I would move to a larger one or house. I would continue working and basically, do everything the same but my nails would always look beautiful.

Q. Tell us your three favourite things about Kendall Ansell Interiors.
1. Meeting new people and families.
2. My fun team of crazy women and suppliers that visit us.
3. The looks on the clients face when they see their newly designed spaces for the first time. It’s amazing to watch the transformation of their body language and how proud they become before our eyes.

Q. Please complete this sentence. I want people to remember me for: my kindness and caring nature to others.

Q. What do you LOVE about Interior Design and what could you live without (in regards to interior design)?
Love: My client experiences, everyone is so unique!
Could live without: (this is very hard) I wish we were less wasteful in home construction. A lot of great product is tossed when clients want new things.

Q. What kind of tips and advice can you offer to any future Interior Designers?
A. I would say to make sure you follow your passion and love. I speak to a lot of students who only like specific areas of design, pick one of those and be really good at it.

Q. If you could offer one piece of advice to high school Kendall about grown up Kendall, what would you say?
A. I was very influenced by others in high school, I’m sure all girls are. I would tell the high school Kendall that caring what other people think of you is useless because most people do not even know what they think of themselves.

Q. What is your all time favorite inspirational quote?
A. “A journey of 1000 miles begins with a single step.” and “Do what you love and you will never work a day in your life.” Those are my two favorite quotes but I’m very impressionable with quotes so they change all the time.
